Chapter 17 - Speed Up
n
n
nThis had been on Viktor’s mind before he decided to return to the bunker. He had to be thorough.
nHis main objective was to protect what he had in the bunker and return everything to the way it previously was;
nIn the event that the bunker were to be overrun, then his plan would be to run away with as many supplies as he could bring. Of course, he would also bring a few people who could help him live better in the outside world if he could.
nIf he really had to, his priority of people to bring would be his bodyguards then his useful servant Barry, and maybe one or two beauties as well if possible.
nHowever, to increase his chances of survival, he would need to kill as many undead as he could to finally receive the level-up reward.
nYou have 10 points of attribute to be freely distributed.
nStrength – 15
nAgility – 20
nEndurance – 25
nViktor had spent some time thinking about the matter. The 3 points he previously invested in strength were so he had enough to operate or carry any heavy equipment he might need to.-.
nHe imagined that any more points than that might allow him to wrestle some monsters, but he had no plans to face any of those things in any frontal manner. Besides, he still had his gun.
nThe endurance stat was, in fact, more important than strength in his present situation, and Viktor believed this even more after seeing how the bullet wound that scratched his waist and caused him so much pain 15 minutes ago had already disappeared as if it never existed.
nHowever, after more consideration, his endurance number was already quite high. Not to mention, he believed that it would be much easier to find endurance-based monsters such as the zombies than agility-based monsters. Not only they will be harder to find, they would also be harder to catch, hence agility is the right choice for him.
nThis was the best plan ever.
n“All points to agility!”
nStrength – 15
nAgility – 30
nEndurance – 25
nBattle Power – 23
nSpirit Force – 20
nMortal Realm – High stage
nWith this upgrade, his battle power increased by three and he also received the high stage status of the mortal realm.
nAs soon as he put all his points into agility, he could feel all of his muscles stretching. There was also a vague feeling of his four limbs being pulled, and afterward, his whole body felt much lighter than before.
n“What an amazing feeling! Thank you, Djinn!”
nHis joyous upgrade was quickly followed by the loud sound of the thick steel door blasting open and it took only a second before the situation quickly turned chaotic.
nAs soon as the black monster stepped into the entrance room, it swiftly charged toward the people who were currently guarding the way toward the living room.
nMany ran while the few who stay were too sacred and began shooting their guns aimlessly.
n“Useless idiots!” Viktor could not help but curse when he saw that none of the bullets actually managed to hit the monster.
nSeeing the monster quickly getting closer, Viktor ordered Torri to activate the explosive right away.
nKABOOOOM!!!
nAn explosion worthy of its name. Viktor, along with all the others present, were thrown a couple of steps back because of it.
nHis ears were ringing due to being in such close proximity to the explosion. Even so, thanks to his high endurance, he was the first to stand up.
nViktor swiftly grabbed the bag and got ready to leave the place, but before that, he needed to check if the monster was still alive.
nHe tried to check under the rubble within the smokes, and to his surprise, the C4 explosive really did its job properly.
nUnder the rubble, the black abomination laid unmoving on the floor with half of its body destroyed. The top part of its body and even its head had lost their form; it was as if it had been dissected.
n“Yuck! This is just too disgusting,”
nFortunately, no matter how awful it looked at the moment, at least the monster was dead and seems that he did not need to run after all. Not now, at least.
nHe quickly checked the timer on his quest.
n5 minutes left.
n“Ha! this turned out to be easier than I thought,”
nA few seconds later, the two bodyguards and half a dozen others in the room finally stood up. Although they were a little distance away, Viktor could see that the two bodyguards were a little injured from the blast but still able to stand and fight.
n‘We actually managed to blow that thing up without destroying the bunker!’ Boris thought with elation.
nLooking around, while there were indeed a few cracks here and there, the primary columns of the bunkers were still properly intact.
nNot long after, Barry came into the room despite the others who ran. His excitement to join the battle was still visible on his face.
n“Master, are you all right!?” Barry shouted with concern as he ran toward Viktor.
nThings appeared to be in order. There were some noises from the entrance, which was to be expected considering the situation, but apart from that, everything seemed fine.
n“That must be the hordes!” Torri exclaimed.
nThere were dozens of undead were seen rushing from the tunnels, However, Viktor thinks without the black monster, defending the bunker from those stage one and two zombies should be manageable.
nTratatatata tratatatatat—
nThe sound of bullets flying filled the room as Boris and Torri started shooting the incoming undead while guarding the entrance.
nViktor was confident in taking care of those zombies, but just when he was turning around ready to join the two bodyguards, he felt chills down his spine.
nWith his sharpened senses from his newfound strength, he noticed the black monster’s corpse behind him twitching. The black liquid from its body quickly formed, rapidly regenerating its destroyed body and reforming it back to the way it was.
nBarry, who was quite near, also noticed this.
n“Master!! it’s still alive!!”
n
