Chapter 55 - The Dead

nViktor was ready to leave the area as soon as possible when he saw Eva standing on the side where the battle between humans and lemmings used to be.
nAs she looked at the now dead lemmings on the ground, her eyes glistened a little from the sorrow. Her face even looked a little pale. Gucci, who was on her arm, also looked at the sight with sorrow. To it, these lemmings were no less than family.
n“Are we going to leave them just like that?” Eva turned to look at Viktor and asked. As their eyes met, Viktor could see that the princess was hoping that he would do something about it.
nViktor did not have much of a problem with leaving the corpses back to the process of nature, but the look on Eva’s face reminded him that these lemmings died for them. If it were not for them, they would have most likely died.
nThese brave lemmings died to let them live, so he might as well spend a little time doing something about it.
nSeeing that the Djinn had finished communicating with the wolves, Viktor figured that this could probably be a good way to test these new soldiers of his.
nSure enough, they did not disappoint. Moments later, Viktor was amazed to see the mutated wolves starting to dig several holes together. With their oversized body and strength, it took them only about half an hour to finish digging large holes and another half an hour to finish putting all the lemming corpses in them.
nAfter all the dead lemmings were buried, Eva’s mood finally lightened.-.
nAs for the humans, they were still treated more humanely. For them, separate holes were dug and their bodies were laid in lines before they were buried.
nBarry also made a simple tombstone for them with ‘Rest in Peace’ engraved.
nAlthough it seemed like something unnecessary and a waste of time, Viktor felt that he needed to do it. After all, it wouldn’t be a lie to say that he was still bothered with his killings today.
nAll their equipment and bags were already packed. With his four new storage rings, the group was now traveling light. Viktor gave one of the rings to Barry to hold onto all the necessary equipment and gave another to Eva. The girl teasingly smiled at him as the ring gave her a different kind of idea.
nViktor himself only needed two rings, one for his luxury goods from the bunker and another for all the weapons he just looted.
nWhen it was all done, Viktor glanced back to the mass graveyard and could not help but marvel at these wolves’ work. At the same time, he realized just how diligent these mutated wolves were.
nViktor quickly thought of an idea.
nHe called Barry to grab him some of the large wooden parts from the hut and took out the ropes in his bag.
nWhen everyone saw this, they were visibly surprised. At the same time, they were confused and curious about what Viktor was planning to do.
nUnder everyone’s gazes, Viktor cast his Metal-bending, pulled out the thick metal he had collected on his chest, and began to shape it.
nBarry, who was the nearest to Viktor among them, watched with his mouth agape.
n“That’s amazing, darling!” Eva exclaimed, her eyes lit up with excitement.
nHearing this, Viktor could not help but smile. He then created two long thin plates that bent upward and began to carefully attach them to the wooden pieces.
nAttaching the metals took a lot of control and creativity. Viktor failed a few times since he was not used to it, but he did not feel annoyed and instead treated it as good practice.
nSlowly but surely, the object Viktor was trying to create started to take form. As the group watched, they began to understand what he was trying to make.
nThe hardest part for him was not to shape or attach the metal, but to successfully tie up the ropes to all the wolves while avoiding their bites.
nThe moment he was about to try it, the thought of their bites quickly stopped him.
n“Nope.”
nViktor did not want to take the risk, so he forced Barry to do the task. The boy hurriedly took a step back when he heard his master’s order, but he still did it in the end, albeit while helplessly crying.
nIt took a little less than an hour, but it was finally done by lunchtime.
nIn front of them now was a 3-seater sleigh that was attached to the six mutated wolves; a wolf sleigh!
n“I did it!” Viktor said with satisfaction as he looked at the final product. “All right, let’s see if it works!”
nViktor ordered Barry to be the one riding the steer while he himself had a good enjoyable sit on the back with Eva.
nAs for the two bodyguards, they did not mind walking or running on the side that much.
n“Let’s go!”
n“Woof woof!”
nWith the blue husky running at the front making sure that they would not run into any danger, the six wolves speedily pulled the sleigh heading north.
nThe ride through the snow was pretty rough, but considering how it was Viktor’s first design and his first time making something like this, he was actually quite proud of himself.
nFor it to be able to work this well despite it being his first, it was already beyond his expectation.
nAlong the way, Viktor would pull the metal they passed by and collect it in the alien ring. He planned to perfect the sleigh design when they reached their next destination.
nWhen he was sure that he had enough metal, he once again began to extract the extra metal to upgrade his spiritual core.
nViktor specifically asked the Djinn not to go near any danger today. The previous battle assured him that his companions were still not ready.
nFinally, Viktor chose an abandoned monastery in the middle of a snowy hill. Observing the monastery’s surroundings, he felt that it would be a good place to enhance their strength and rearrange their inventory. Its location and the thick snow made it very unlikely for ‘guests’ to appear, so it was perfect.
nWith his 87 spirit stones, he gave 15 stones to each of the boys. They already knew how useful these spirit stones were, so they were grateful.
nThinking about it, It had been almost two years since these guys last received their salaries, so it felt good to do this payout.
nAs for Eva, Viktor secretly gave her 5 extra. When she noticed this, she gave him a wink.. Not only that, but she also made a sign reminding him about a certain appointment they would be having tonight.
n
