Chapter 65 - Hide

nThe group finally arrived in front of the town bank, one of the sturdiest buildings in the town. As soon as they found a good position, they quickly started taking their stances and fighting the dozens of creatures coming toward them.
nSplatt!
nAnother furry ball creature was split apart by Viktor’s fast and powerful swing.
nRight at that moment, several of them simultaneously came from different sides. Viktor reflexively dodged back before swinging his axe wide at them, killing most of them all at once with the rest taken care of by the two bodyguards’ bullets.
nViktor was standing in the forefront at the bank entrance with the two bodyguards, Torri and Boris, watching his back shooting and killing the incoming creature of the abyss.
nAfter killing the tenth furry monster that came his way, a notification came to his mind.
nSpirit force increased by one point.
nThis pleasantly surprised him. Even killing half of all the undead in town before did not give him any, yet killing 10 of these furry creatures gave him one. This creature certainly gave quite a good amount of spirit energy.
nUnfortunately, he did not get any increase in attribute points despite this being the first time he killed this type of creature. This made Viktor wonder if the reason for this was the fact that these creatures were of the abyssal type.
nSplatt! Splatt!
nAfter killing a few more with the axe, Viktor started to get used to using it.-.
nIt was this time that the Djinn once again informed him that there were more coming.
nJust because Viktor could kill them with just a swing each did not mean that he could not get tired from doing it over and over again. His strength and agility were quite ample, but his stamina was not unlimited.
nBut this was the reason they came to this place.
n“Follow me!”
nSeeing Viktor rushing into the bank, the others hurriedly followed him into the back room. Fortunately, this small branch bank indeed had the thing he was looking for to keep them safe; the steel plate vault.
n“We won’t be able to outrun them, so we’ll stay here to get through the night,” Viktor said to the group.
nSeeing the vault’s steel door, the group quickly agreed. However, Barry, who stepped forward wanting to open the door for his young master, spoke nervously.
n“Master, it’s locked!”
nViktor gave a light smile and put his hand on the surface of the vault’s steel door. Using Metal-bending, he managed to feel the structure of the entire three-inch steel door. It was rather hard, but given time, he managed to slowly open it.
nJust when he finally opened it enough for them to enter, the blue husky once again barked.
n“Woof woof!”
n
nThe Djinn informed without waiting for Viktor to ask about their number.
nIt would not take a genius to know that the dog was once again warning them of danger. This was something that the group had quickly picked up upon without Viktor explaining to them.
nEva quickly said, her face filled with worry, “Come enter, dear, hurry!”
nHowever, Viktor just stood there outside of the vault and smiled at Eva before looking toward the group.
n“You all wait here until I come back or until the morning.”
n“No no no!” the girl panickedly refused. She wanted to stop Viktor, but with a firm order from him, the two bodyguards nodded and held Eva in place.
nHe told Barry to lock the vault from inside, and to be extra safe, Viktor cast Metal-tempering to increase the strength of the steel door.
nThere was actually a pretty good chance that those monsters would only pass by the place and would be gone by the time morning came. But, he did not want to take that chances.
nA certain memory of being killed inside a vault pushed him to make such a decision.
nIt took him quite a while to temper such a large and thick piece of metal, but fortunately, the Djinn kept him updated about the creatures’ location.
nYou have successfully tempered tier 0 material with outstanding quality.
nViktor was a little bit disappointed that he did not succeed in making it into one with excellent quality, but with the limited time he had, this would just have to be sufficient.
nNow he decided to use the same tactic he used with the mutated wolves. However, this time, he would be the bait.
nHe believed with his companion safe inside the tempered vault, it would be much easier for him to go about dealing with these creatures.
nBesides, after witnessing these abyss creatures’ power first-hand, Viktor really thought that these creatures would be good practice for him. Even if he were to be overwhelmed by them at one point, he could always do what he does best.
nRun.
n“Woof woof!”
n“Yes, I know! It’s just you and me now, Djinn! Let’s go!”
nThe moment he walked out to the bank’s main lobby, he was instantly greeted by a dozen furry abyssal creatures already filling the place. And as if they sensed his presence, the moment he arrived, all of them fiercely began charging at him.
nSwish!
nHis 49 points of agility once again helped him deal with the situation. He turned, side-stepped, and dashed forward trying his best to dodge all the incoming attacks while brandishing his axe toward the creatures within the axe’s range.
nSplat! Splat!
nThe furry corpses started to pile up in the bank lobby. Viktor exhaled a deep breath seeing all the creatures that previously rushed at him now lying motionless, but his break did not last long at all.
nRight as he finished them all, more of them arrived. This time, the number that came was at least twice the previous one, cornering both him and the dog.
nViktor jumped out of the window and the blue husky followed him, forcing the fight to be brought outside.
nSplatt!
nSpirit force increased by one point.
nThe message that came into his head made him forget about all his fatigue and quickly replaced it with excitement. Now, rather than running away and making them lose track of him, he could not wait to kill more of those creatures.
n“Come! Who wants another piece of this!”
nHowever, just when he was beginning to feel confident, the dog barked again.
n“Woof woof!”
nViktor immediately had a bad premonition.
n
nThe information that came into his mind quickly dragged his previous confidence to nothingness and made him pale.
nHellhounds – level 50
nAbyss creature – Stage 2
nBattle Power – 45
n“What the f**k!!” Viktor could not help but blurt out, flabbergasted.
n’50 battle power!? You have got to be kidding me!’
nThese hellhounds were the strongest monster type he had ever seen.. Not only that, but there were more than one, a few of them in fact. All of them were swiftly moving toward the town right now!
n
