n“Miss, don’t block his way. Hurry up and end her misery. It’s not like she can get any treatment anyway. Are we supposed to watch as she bleeds to death?” said an old granny. She sighed and turned her head around, unwilling to look at the depressing sight.
nThe scene could easily make anyone feel uncomfortable.
n
n
nMany people did not have the heart to face the bleak reality.
nLi Ran was briefly distracted and the man quickly threw the woman towards the zombies.
nHowever, he did not instantly run away. Instead, he crouched nearby, as if he was ready to do something.
nSure enough, the zombies smelt the blood and rushed over.
n
n
nThey surrounded the woman and began tearing her from limb to limb.
nIt was horrifying.
nThe woman’s weak screams were heard.
nHowever, after a short while, it fell silent.
n
n
nShe had died.
nThe man saw this as an opportunity and quickly rushed towards a zombie that was carrying a bag of supplies.
nSo that was his purpose.
nThe woman was a sacrificial lamb.
nOther people were envious. They saw the man succeed and wanted to rush in too. The soldiers tried to stop them but to no avail.
nIf they slowed down, the supplies would be snatched away by others.
n
n
nThere were only about ten to twenty bags.
nThe crowd became more chaotic than ever.
nEverybody wanted to get their hands on the bags of supplies. It was as if they had gone insane.
nIn order to survive, morals were discarded.
nAs long as they could get food, nothing else mattered.
nLi Ran snuck away from the deranged crowd. She headed towards the direction where the zombies came from.
nOf course, there were doubts in her heart. After all, she was pregnant. Her recklessness could easily bring her harm.
nHowever, there was something that she had to find out no matter what.
n
n
n‘Why were there bags of supplies tied to the zombies?
n‘Who could have performed such a feat?
n‘It would have been extremely dangerous to approach the zombies.
n‘Did they have some kind of power to control the zombies?’
nLi Ran did not know the answers but if such a person existed, she wanted to be their ally.
nThere was an area where lots of wood was piled up. A tall tree full of branches and leaves was nearby. Under the sunlight, it cast a large shadow. Behind the tree was a small entrance that led outside. It could easily be missed.
nLi Ran took a good look through the entrance and it seemed that there was no danger.
nShe was not afraid of encountering zombies, but more of unpredictable accidents.
nThen, she narrowed her eyes and found out that zombies were falling from the sky.
nSome of them fell on their heads and instantly died. There were several zombie corpses around the place.
nLi Ran kept quiet and raised her head to look at the sky.
n‘This made no sense.’
nThe wall was a little bit up ahead. It was at least three meters tall and Li Ran had no way of getting over it.
n
n
n‘There’s no way I can figure out what’s going on outside.’
nShe needed to head back. The plan should be arriving soon. If she wanted to find answers, she would need to leave the safety base first.
nLi Ran only took a couple of steps back when she realized that the zombies had already mixed into the crowd.
nThere were no mistakes!
nThe formation of the soldiers had also been broken. They could not kill the zombies efficiently.
nLi Ran quickly found a hiding spot for herself. It was behind a few large pieces of wood. Through the crack, she could see everything that was happening. It felt so unreal.
nShe never thought that things would turn out this way.
nLoud screams were coming from all directions.
nThe civilians were hysterical.
n
