nLi Ran reflexively touched her stomach and let out a long sigh. The barricade had already been set up. Nobody was allowed to pass, be it humans or zombies.

nThe two looked dismayed.

n

n

nSuddenly, a zombie got near them.

nFortunately, the soldier was very vigilant. He swiftly killed the zombie with a swing of a knife.

nThen, he said with a serious tone, “What should we do? I don’t have many bullets left!”

nA group of people surrounded the barricade, including zombies. They desperately wanted to get through.

n

n

nOne of the zombies attacked a man. It took a bite out of the man’s back. In an instant, the man’s body froze and started shivering.

nHe did not feel pain because fear overwhelmed it.

nThe man’s eyes were filled with despair. In a fit of rage, he grabbed the zombie who bit him and punched it!

nAfter that, he grabbed its head forcefully and smashed it on the ground!

n

n

nWhen that was done, the man tried to smash his own head but was successful. He began panting heavily and was drowned in anger.

nThe man then slowly got up and looked behind him. His eyes met with Li Ran’s and he also noticed the soldier next to her.

nHe rushed towards them in a terrifying manner.

nLi Ran’s eyes widened. How did the man succumb to the virus so quickly? Even the little boy did not…

nJust as Li Ran was about to pull the soldier away, the man rushed behind Li Ran instead!

nThe man tackled another zombie that Li Ran was unaware of and roared, “I’ll kill as many of them as I can! I’m already infected anyway. My death is unavoidable…”

n

n

nHe grabbed the zombie’s neck and smashed its head on the ground, just as he did before.

nTears could be seen falling from his eyes. All he wanted was to live.

nThe soldier glanced at the man and grabbed Li Ran’s arm.

nThey needed to retreat. There were only about a hundred people left here. All of them were desperately trying to get through the barricade to the point that they were tearing apart the barbed wire.

nHowever, people who had already got through began working together and started to build more barricades. They refused to let anyone else out and surrounded the place.

nThe soldier narrowed his eyes.

n“There are two soldiers with guns over there. If all the civilians were evacuated, we could finish off the zombies in no time. But now, it seems that the zombies are mixing into the crowd.”

n“Would it be possible for you to communicate with them? The problem is the people outside. You can tell with just a glance,” said Li Ran in a low voice while frowning.

n

n

nThe two of them were in a very bad situation. It would be even more dangerous if they moved to a crowded area.

n“I don’t have much stamina left. Should we go somewhere else? This is a sniping area, so we might accidentally get hurt. It’ll be difficult to get close to the other soldiers,” said the soldier impatiently.

nLi Ran looked at the barricade made of barbed wire. It may be hard for an average civilian to get through, but not for a trained soldier.

n“Don’t worry about me for now. You need to kill the zombies as soon as possible. Otherwise, even the army might be wiped out.”

n“I can’t just leave you. If something happens, you won’t be able to handle it.”

nThe soldier firmly refused.

nHe had one mission, which was to protect Li Ran and that was his utmost priority.

nThe situation seemed bleak.

n“We can’t keep this up. I’ll hide over there and wait for you to return.”

n
