nLi Ran was unable to change the soldier’s mind.
nHer heart skipped a beat.
n
n
nThe woman was still panicking. There was a wound on her wrist that was bleeding profusely. Her entire body froze and her face was filled with grief.
n“Is there any salvation after being bitten?”
nWith tears in her eyes, she continued, “Am I going to die?”
nThe man’s lips twitched, “You won’t die. You’ll just turn into a zombie.”
n
n
nHe looked at Li Ran in disbelief, “Either you save everyone or none at all! What are we supposed to do now? This is so annoying!”
nLi Ran pursed her lips and stared at the soldier who had rushed ahead.
nThat soldier looked like a man in his twenties. He had a determined expression and was very responsible. In fact, was willing to sacrifice himself to save others. It’s a feat that an ordinary person would not be able to achieve.
nLi Ran tried to shoot every zombie that she came across.
n
n
nEven though she had learned about the foundation of shooting before, the real thing felt very different.
nSometimes she would hit her target and at other times, she could not.
nThe man had lost all his patience. He walked towards Li Ran and grabbed her wrist. Then, he said in a low voice, “That woman is a little abnormal. It’s not a good sign. You should deal with her first.”
nLi Ran looked at the man anxiously, “There are too many zombies and I have limited bullets. I’ll distract them while you take the opportunity to escape. Don’t worry about me, okay?”
nAfter saying that, Li Ran pointed in a direction, indicating where the man should go.
nThe man scratched his head and had an annoyed expression on his face.
n
n
n“To let a woman lure the zombies while I run away? Is that reasonable?”
nLi Ran glanced at him and said bitterly, “Hurry up and go. You don’t have much time.”
n“Okay! Don’t die. I have high hopes for you. My name is Zhang Song. Remember me!”
nZhang Song patted her shoulder as a form of encouragement.
nLi Ran nodded.
n“I’m Li Ran.”
n“I know.”
nZhang Song raised his eyebrows. There were no entertainment facilities in the safety base so his enjoyment came from all the drama Li Ran was involved in.
n
n
nHowever, he did not expect her to be such an upstanding woman!
n“I admire you! You can do it! I believe in you!”
nLi Ran did not respond. She picked up a stick that she found nearby and ran the other way. If any wounds were inflicted on her, she would be infected and that would be the end.
nHowever, she was determined to make some noise!
nLi Ran took a deep breath and touched her stomach. Intense physical actions or emotions would affect the baby.
nShe sighed.
nThe baby sure had suffered a lot.
nGritting her teeth, Li Ran went to the corner of a residential building where there was a drainage pipe. She immediately struck it without any hesitation and continued to do so until she attracted the zombies’ attention.
nIt worked and the zombies rushed towards her. Just as they closed in, Li Ran took out the iron ball and escaped into the mysterious space.
nThe zombies just barely missed her.
nMeanwhile, other people noticed that the zombies were gathered at a spot. To ensure their safety, they dare not make any sound.
nZhang Song was carrying the soldier who was guarding Li Ran earlier on his back.
nAlthough severely weakened, the soldier was resisting. It prompted Zhang Song to snap back angrily, “It’s useless. Do you even have any strength left? There’s nothing you can do.”
n
n
nThe soldier could not help but clench his fists and seized an opportunity to strangle Zhang Song.
n“Didn’t I tell you guys to hide?”
n“Yes, but she wouldn’t listen!”
n“Then why didn’t you just carry her and leave? You’re a man! How could you let this happen?!”
nAll of the soldier’s efforts up till now have been wasted and he could only vent his anger.
nZhang Song pursed his lips.
n“Haven’t you heard of the saying that men and women should not be intimate?”1
n1 Meaning: It is improper for men and women to touch each other’s hands. Hence why Zhang Song did not carry Li Ran as the soldier suggested.
n
