n“Do you know who she is? She…”

nZhang Song laid the soldier on the ground. His forehead was full of sweat but it did not bother him. Instead, he was filled with regret. Maybe he should not have run away. It was possible to protect her if she was by his side.

nHowever, he snapped out of it and asked, “Are there any wounds on your body?”

nThe soldier took off a layer of his clothes in front of Zhang Song and explained, “This shirt was specially customized. Even a knife could not cut through it, let alone a bite. I just needed to protect my head and hands.”

n“Not bad,” said Zhang Song as he looked at the shirt in awe.

nJust as the soldier was getting up, the ground shook!

n

n

nThere was smoke everywhere!

nAn explosion could be heard. It made the soldier jump. He immediately put on his shirt and rushed out.

nZhang Song was also shocked. The explosion was pretty close by. He could tell exactly where it came from.

nThe soldier only took a glance at the situation and quickly retreated. He pulled Zhang Song and both of them ran towards a wall.

n

n

nThere was no time to find a place to hide. The soldier sighed and said. “I’m too embarrassed to go back now.”

nWhen Zhang Song heard this, his eyes lit up. He said happily, “Just follow me then. We’ll have each other’s backs.”

n“Forget it. You’re just a burden. We are in this situation because of you. If anything happened to Miss Li, you won’t be able to escape,” the soldier replied bitterly. He was still brooding over this matter.

n“What’s the current situation?”

nThe soldier took a step back dejectedly.

n“Life and death are determined by fate and wealth. It seems like I’ll die here. I’m tired. I’m going to sleep.”

n

n

nUpon hearing that, Zhang Song became confused and anxious.

n“What happened? What is the meaning of this?”

n“The purge operation has begun. They will bomb this place to the ground. Obviously, all the zombies will be killed. Don’t worry. Our location should be relatively safe. Go to sleep.”

nAfter saying that, the soldier closed his eyes and instantly fell asleep.

nZhang Song was stunned. He murmured, “You can sleep just like that? How ridiculous.”

n…

nLin Nan frowned when he read the report. He did not know how the zombies found their way to the safety base.

nThe rest of the soldiers had all gone to investigate this matter.

nWhen Fang Lin reported, he sighed, “We lost control. It’s not wise to waste all of our ammunition. We might as well just use a few bombs. There’s a device behind the wall. It’s similar to a lift. Once a zombie enters, it will automatically rise and bounce it into the base.”

nFang Lin replied with certainty, “It’s man-made. There’s blood in the lift that was used to attract the zombies. I don’t know why, but it seems relatively easy to control them.”

nLin Nan nodded, “You’re in charge of the situation. Try your best to keep this place safe. I have to find my wife.”

n“Wasn’t she rescued? I just saw her friend, Lin Ke. She was asking where sister-in-law went. I thought she was not around because she had something to do.”

nThe timing of Lin Ke’s arrival was a little strange. Obviously, it was a special arrangement. Fang Lin did not think too much about it.

nLin Nan looked at him and asked, “Where is her friend?”

n“She’s in the main hall at the military district. I don’t think she has left yet. You should hurry and go. Sister-in-law should be back by now.”

nFang Lin still had other things to deal with, such as the aftermath of the situation. It would be dangerous if things were not settled properly. He needed to keep an eye on that area. There must be no more mistakes.

nThree bombs were detonated in that area. The distance between the bombs was set up in a way that they would not damage the walls. After such a large-scale clean-up, the base should be safe again.

nFang Lin sent a team of fully-armed soldiers into the base to wipe out the remaining zombies.

nStrictly speaking, there should not even be a single zombie left.

nFang Lin suited up. Not many soldiers were left. Most of them had other missions. So, he had to personally get involved.
