nChapter 13 – Giving up on Treatment (放棄治療)
nThe three of them rushed to the hospital room and saw Qiao Weimin talking to a doctor.
n“Doctor Wang, you said in the beginning that she might get better. That’s why we spent so much money. But now, my wife’s almost gone. Shouldn’t your hospital give me an explanation?”
n
n
n“Mister Qiao, I only said that there might be a chance. I didn’t think her condition would worsen so quickly. Everyone’s bodies are different,” explained the doctor.
n“I don’t care. We still have your prescriptions (T
/N: Western medicine aka pills) at home, but she can’t even take them now. You have to take them back!” Qiao Weimin knew that the hospital wouldn’t give compensation. What he wanted was to return those meds.
nThose pills were easily over a thousand dollars, and there were plenty of them at home. Qiao Weimin planned to reap however much he could by selling them back to the hospital.
n“Then… okay, fine. Bring the ones that haven’t been used yet. I’ll take care of it…” Doctor Wang said.
n
n
nDoctor Gan shook his head as he walked over and overheard the conversation.
n“Mister Qiao, right? Your daughter showed me her prescription. It’ll definitely work. Why don’t you go get this picked up right now…” He interrupted.
n(T
/N: The medicine aren’t pills but a bunch of herbs and natural things. Prescriptions tell you which things to put together and then you bring it home to brew it. I don’t know how to explain it. I’m sorry.)
n“What do you mean?” Qiao Weimin couldn’t understand.
n
n
nJing Yunzhao was nothing but a bastard who stayed at home all day. We could use her prescription? What kind of joke was that?
n“The meaning is very simple; The patient can be saved. If you follow this prescription and use it, she has a chance of surviving…” Doctor Gan continued to explain.
nQiao Weimin frowned as he listened.
nHe opened his mouth after a while, “This prescription is Jing Yunzhao’s, right?”
n“Yes,” Doctor Gan didn’t deny it.
n“Then I refuse to use it!” Qiao Weimin said coldly. “You doctors said my wife couldn’t be saved. We’ve already prepared for her passing, but now you decide to bring in some **ty prescription? And it was prescribed by my daughter, no less! If it’s like this, then shouldn’t we have let my daughter treat her in the beginning? Plus, she’s only a little girl, not even of age yet. If something were to go wrong with her prescription, will you guys be able to take responsibility?!”
n
n
n“At this point, the patient’s condition cannot get any worse, so let’s just give it a try…” Doctor Gan couldn’t believe how difficult Qiao Weimin was being.
nNormally, it was the patients and their families asking him for help. This was the first time he himself had to ask to save a patient.
n“Try? For what? My wife has suffered enough and will finally be free. Do you not want her to die in peace?! Additionally… Doctor Wang, you’re my wife’s primary doctor. What’s with this old man coming out of nowhere?” Qiao Weimin continued.
nThat Doctor Wang was a young doctor. He’d just returned from studying abroad, and his future was full of possibilities. He felt displeased.
nHe’d already determined the patient’s condition to be hopeless. That meant if someone else were to save her, his reputation would be ruined.
n“Doctor Gan, I respect your seniority, but… Aren’t you being a bit unreasonable? The patient’s family has already said no. It wouldn’t be good if you continue to be so persistent, right?” Doctor Wang said, smiling.
nDoctor Gan’s stomach was full of anger. He had never seen such an unreasonable family member before.
nHe, Gan Songbai (甘鬆柏), was one of the hospital’s famed doctors. He had already approved of the prescription, and yet he was being cast aside like an old shoe!
n
n
nMoreover, having lived to this age, he knew how to judge people.
nDid Qiao Weimin reject him because he didn’t trust the prescription? No—he obviously just didn’t want to save his wife!
nGan Songbai was a genuine practitioner of medicine, but if the other party refused, then there wasn’t much he could do.
nHe sighed and walked out of the room. He looked at Jing Yunzhao and said, “Little girl, I can’t do much if your dad doesn’t want to. You should just let it go.”
nJing Yunzhao nodded, “I understand. Thank you, Doctor Gan.”
nShe’d offered a kind favor, but if the Qiao family was unwilling to accept it, then… that was none of her business. From now on, she would owe the Qiao Family nothing. It was time for her to get payback!
n
