Chapter 341 - So That's What Happened

nWhen Butler Limo reached the location that his Master had strode off in, he found himself standing at the door of the office he had just cleaned spotlessly.
nHowever, the moment he was about to set foot inside the room, a vicious glare aimed at him froze him in place.
nEarl Rutherford St. Claire, now dressed in a new set of clothes glared daggers at the man who was about to enter his room.
nHis sight then lowered to the objects in the Butler's hand which only darkened his face.
nLimo was quick to realize this threatening gaze when he realized what was in his hand.
nGazing down at the bundle of clothes that his Master had just discarded, he understood why he was denied entry into this room.
nWhen he glanced up, the sneering look on his Master's face was easy for him to comprehend.
n'You want to clean this room all over again?' Rutherford's scoff added to the Butler's conviction that he had gotten this right.
nButler Limo bowed in silence and then hurried away to finish the work that he was given earlier.
nThe Kitchen was not too far away and within minutes, he reached the place and picked up a few logs from the fireplace used for cooking purposes.
nThe servants had not yet returned to their stations after lunch which was a good thing as there would not be too many mouths discussing this incident.
nThe only maid who was present was the same young girl who had fetched the ingredients for tea that Paula had demanded.
n'I will deal with her later.' He decided as he glanced at the confused young maid one last time before leaving the Kitchen.
nWalking outside, he placed the firewood on the ground and lit it in no time.
nThen he sighed as he tossed out the clothes his Master had been wearing today which were stained due to that delusional maid's antics.
n'I'm glad Master did not fall for her tricks.' He smiled as he watched the clothes blaze after falling onto the bright and flaming embers.
nHe had been fretting what might happen once the maid entered the room but now he was sure that nothing had happened between them.
n'Master's anger proves the love he has for Madam.' He prayed that everything would be alright.
nThen recalling what he had commanded the other maids to do, he turned his head in a certain direction where the three women would now be and harrumphed.
n'You thought that seducing Master would be an easy task?' He sneered and turned away before his anger rose once again.
nWalking back into the Mansion, he entered the Kitchen and faced the young maid.
n
"Clean up the fire and the remains that are right outside.
" He ordered which was received with a nod.
nLimo had just turned around when something struck his mind.
n'I should talk to Master about this.' He concluded and then walked towards the direction of that man.
nOnce he reached the office, he knocked and this time he was allowed entrance.
n
"Master, what are your orders?
" He inquired and waited for what might be said.
nThe punishment of the maid, the resolution of this incident, and the consideration of what needed to be done next were all matters that the Earl needed to decide.
nLimo was just the enforcer of the decisions that his Master would make.
nRutherford took a moment to ponder on what his next steps would be.
n
"Where is that maid now?
" He uttered through gritted teeth when his mind replayed what had just taken place.
nThe insolence and the ingratitude of that maid were what irked him the most and he was not one to forgive betrayals.
n
"Back garden. Two maids are keeping an eye over her.
" He informed him what he had done.
nThe nod from the Earl indicated that he approved of this decision.
n
"She remains there until my wife returns.
" Rutherford's announcement widened his Butler's eyes.
n'Are you not going to punish her for what she has done?' Limo's question was quite apparent on his face.
nIn answer to this, Rutherford shook his head even when his fists were clenched tightly.
n
"The Countess should be the one who will decide how to punish her.
" He declared as he wanted his wife to know the true colors of the one she kept by her side.
nButler Limo could understand why his Master wished to do so yet he feared that the Madam would melt at the sight of her pitiful maid.
n
"She needed to know the truth and grow stronger.
" Rutherford's silent mutter wiped away all the misgivings on his Butler's face.
nThe Earl knew that his wife was soft and rarely would she express her anger.
nHe liked her exactly how she was but she needed to be more firm and stern in the way she dealt with things so that such an incident would never occur again.
n'She was pampered and protected all her life so she never learned to be strict.' He sighed but it was time that she became tougher for the sake of her family.
nWhile he wished for his wife to become strong, he knew that this news would break her, however, this was necessary.
nTherefore, having announced his decision, he stood firm by his words and did not change his mind.
nButler Limo caught the resolution in his eyes and chose to remain silent.
n'I just hope that Madam has the same resolve and kicks her out.' He prayed and then waited for his next orders.
nJust as he had expected, Rutherford then instructed him to send all the servants back to their quarters to minimize the circulation of this matter.
nThe two maids were ordered to keep an eye on Paula who would remain in the same place until the Madam arrived.
nRutherford then sternly ordered his Butler to not allow anyone to enter his room as he waited for his wife and child to arrive.
n
"Ask Ray to wait for me in our room. Talking to her there would be the best option.
" He nodded after coming to this conclusion.
nThis room was still reminding him of the bold actions of that maid and he did not want to discuss this matter with his wife in the same place.
nHowever, he wasn't as lucky as all the files needed for his work were here so he had to stay in this room until he was done.
nThis thought only soured his mood as he kicked his Butler out of the room and went right back to work.

nYvonne nodded her head as the Butler's narration came to an end.
n
"And after a few hours, Miss and Madam returned.
" He announced with excitement.
nThe Butler was talking to the two maids when he heard the sounds of a horse-drawn carriage coming to a halt.
nThe Earl had instructed him to escort the Madam to their bedchamber hence he did not inform his Master about their arrival.
nHe and the two maids glared at Paula and warned her not to move then ran to fetch the people who had returned.
n'So that's what happened…' The little girl rubbed her chin in contemplation.
n
"So Paula wasn't sent to the Lower Hall?
" She muttered in dismay that she once again lost the chance to gain information about this super-secret dungeon.
nButler Limo's eyes widened when he heard her childish voice speaking about that place which many feared.
nFeeling his gaze, she tilted her head and soon understood why he had that expression.
n
"Mama once punished Paula before me.
" She explained how she was aware of this place and saw him sigh.
n
"Miss should not think about that place.
" He taught her with a coaxing smile.
nThat place was not something a little girl like her could handle so he tried to remove any strange thoughts that might have come into her mind.
nHis worries diminished when he saw her nod like an obedient little girl.
n'I will not think about it but find it soon enough!' She declared with confidence that one of these days she would surely find it.
nHowever, any exploration plans would have to wait for another week thanks to the punishment she had received.
nEven her Grandpa Leo would rather give physical punishments like running extra laps, excessive exercise, or something along those lines but never like the one she had received today.
n'Grounded for a week…' She lamented the punishment she had received for the first time in both lives.
n
