Chapter 756 - Learned Something Interesting
As Elna watched the two boys hovering around Yvonne, she knew what the others might be thinking right now.
The last time, she had also tried to get closer to Taylor as she felt that their families were better than Yvonne's.
While he had been cordial with her when they spent time together at Ocular's Caravans, he also maintained a respectful distance from her.
He treated her kindly but his behavior revealed that he was not willing to get any closer to her than what was required.
However, he had treated Yvonne with much care and even pampered her, listening to what she said, and also bought her a present without doing the same to the other girl who was with them.
It was then that she had realized that the only one who received his care and concern was none other than Yvonne St. Claire.
Elna had already understood this truth about his nature but the other girls were only realizing the same today.
They had heard rumors about the close relationship between the St. Claire siblings and Taylor but seeing was believing and now they were sure that there was no falsity in those rumors.
Even if someone wished to tarnish that girl's reputation by accusing her of trying to lure Taylor on purpose, no one would believe a word they said.
After all, they saw how Taylor treated her, just like one would do to their blood-related sibling.
Thus, no one had ever thought of questioning the nature of their relationship until this date.
The girls had then separated into groups after seeing the two boys surrounding Yvonne St. Claire, not inviting her to join them.
Anyway, she preferred this and hence did not display any dissatisfaction with their attitude.
However, in no time, she was bored out of her mind and hoped to return home but could only suppress her annoyance and stay here a little longer.
Once the adults were done with their conversation then they would be allowed to return so she only had to bear with it until then.
Therefore, she sat in silence while listening to the conversation taking place between her brothers.
The place they were currently in was Taylor's old playhouse with numerous toys displayed on the shelves but none of the children were interested in playing with them.
Even if something caught their eye, they only sat around in groups and conversed with each other as showing their childish side was deemed to be improper in this society.
Yvonne shook her head but thinking of her past where even she had no time to pick up a toy and play with it, she realized that she had no right to criticize them.
Thus she, with her two brothers, were discussing what would happen once the Royal Academy reopened.
Aleena and Rika were now speaking to Miss Glennise Brodie and so were the two younger daughters of Marquess Carter.
Meanwhile, Elna, Cecily, and the eldest daughter of the Carter family were seated at a distance and conversing among themselves.
Yvonne was surprised to see Jasmine Carter being friendly with Cecily Yona after what had taken place during tea time.
She had expected to see hostility between Jasmine and Cecily after that incident where her elder brother had been scorned but what she was seeing was quite the contrary.
The two were giggling and by the looks of it, they were enjoying their conversation which came as an eye-opener to her.
'Maybe she doesn't care about what happened earlier.' She surmised before looking away.
Despite not wanting to pay attention to what was being said, her keen sense of hearing had enabled her to catch certain phrases from time to time.
From these whispers, she had a good idea of what the group with Glennise was discussing and also what the three older girls were talking about.
Rika and Glennise were being asked questions about the Royal Princess and they were happy to answer them with wide smiles on their faces.
The Carter girls were also curious to know when Duchess Brodie would host her party as they had not yet received any invitations for the same.
To this, Glennise smiled mysteriously and only said that they would just have to wait for the invites to arrive.
However, Rika was happy to announce that her mother's party would be held this week.
"Our party will be before that.
" Fiona Carter scoffed as she interrupted what Rika was about to say next.
Yvonne glimpsed at the younger girl whose lips were pursed for having been cut off before she could finish what she was trying to say.
Her eyes then fell on Aleena, waiting to see if she would retaliate or follow the suggestion she had received today.
'Good job!' She nodded in appreciation when she saw that girl keeping her cool and only smiling at Rika to not mind what had just happened.
Rika was surprised at first but agreed with an eager nod as she loved her elder sister the most and would follow everything she said.
On the other hand, Yvonne learned something interesting from the second group of girls who were seated a short distance away from them.
'So Cecily likes Jacob, Elna likes the future Grand Duke, and Jasmine likes Zimon?' She repeated what she had understood from those whispers she had heard.
These were bits of crucial information for her to keep in mind so she paid more attention to them.
She had assumed that Elna had a tiny and passing crush on the Older Prince residing in the Royal Palace but now it appeared to have intensified by a large portion.
Hearing how bashful she sounded while mentioning her desire to meet the young man at least once, Yvonne only shook her head.
'If only you knew what would happen in the future.' She sighed but did not reveal what was on her mind.
Finally, the last piece of information explained why Jasmine appeared to be so friendly with Cecily despite the obvious animosity between the two families.
Jasmine liked the heir of the Yona family so ignoring the fact that Klay was being snubbed every time he met Cecily, she was trying to get closer to the boy she liked by using his elder sister as a bridge between them.
In fact, she was following the same methods as Cecily, using the sister to get close to the one she liked.
Cecily tried her best to curry favor with Aleena and Rika and now, Jasmine was doing the same to her as well.
"Vonny, where is your mind wandering?
" Taylor grumbled when he realized that she had been silent for a long time.
The boys were groaning and moaning about how tough life would get and how their schedules would become hectic soon.
Yvonne had contributed to the conversation in the beginning but her attention had been diverted soon enough.
Therefore, the boys had been speaking for a long time but heard no reply coming from her.
When they turned towards her, they found her to be staring at her fingers with her mind lost in some thoughts.
Thus he had called out to her to shake her out of those wandering thoughts.
"I have a lot of assignments.
" She muttered an excuse instead of revealing what was truly on her mind.
"Uncle must have done it!
" Taylor sneered without even waiting to hear who might have burdened his sister.
His reproachful voice was a little too loud which had attracted the attention of the other groups seated near them.
"Does Miss Yvonne also have assignments to complete?
" Rika was the first to inquire as she could understand the pain of having too much work to do.
Before Yvonne could nod in answer, Glennise turned towards her and raised her brow.
"How hard can her assignments be?
" She interrogated and her mocking tone made Taylor and Howard frown.
No matter how much of a genius their sister was, she was still a little girl so they did not want her to be burdened.
However, Miss Glennise's words made it sound like their sister was exaggerating right now to gain their sympathy and look pitiful.
Yvonne had been trying to minimize her presence so that she might not get involved in such petty quarrels but despite her efforts, she was dragged into one right away.
Hearing that odd question, she turned towards the one who had spoken, and what she saw put her into a thoughtful daze for a second.
The moment when she had looked into Glennise's eyes, she had caught a trace of mockery visible in them.
This sight made her realize that certain things were moving as per what had been mentioned in the script she had read.
The friendship between the three girls was commended to her as they stuck together, having each others' backs through thick and thin.
However, no matter how commendable their friendship was, at the end of the day, they were still labeled as villainesses for a reason.
Especially Glennise Brodie who did everything she could just to stay next to the Prince, even if it meant that she had to harm Hilda in the process of gaining what she wanted.
Yvonne admitted that she could be many times eviler and meaner compared to the three girls referred to as 'villainesses' in the script if she wanted to.
However, she could guarantee that she had never once taken the initiative to antagonize someone.
She would only retaliate if she was being targeted.
Thus she was not liking the tone Glennise had used when they had not even interacted much with each other before today.
