207 Within the Deep

All the monsters in the first layer of Abyss Pit have been eliminated.

They have all obtained more than 50.000 white spirit stones, along with 10.000 yellow spirit stones. However, their farming session in the Abyss was far from done.

Viktor, along with the rest of his group, decided to venture deeper in. They walked deeper and deeper, and now the heat from the lava streams could no longer be felt. Two hours passed, with Viktor leading the way thanks to the Djinn’s guidance, before they finally reached a massive, dark room. In the middle of the room, there was three statues of a classic three-headed dog – Cerberus.

The three-headed dog were known as the monster guarding the gates of hell, and now the very same terrifying monster was staring at them like it was trying to judge their souls. A moment after, the statue started to shake. The limbs of the statue lost its rocky quality, and living fur began to shake alongside the now living beast’s movements.

After witnessing this, the recruits swallowed their dry throats. After all, they have just seen the monster from Greek myths come to life before their eyes. Some of them have seen the Cerberus from afar at the attack on Pern City a few months ago, but now, they have to face the beast directly.

The time to be afraid has gone, and now, it is time to fight.

All of a sudden, their hero – Metal Guardian – jumped forward and faced the three-headed beast by himself. On his hands, there were the chains used for the Chain Strike attack.

Within moments, the Cerberuses’ heads and feet were restrained.

ROOARRRRR!

The statue has broken itself fully, revealing the ghastly creature within, yet it was already roaring in anger and pain as the chains restrained them. One of the Cerberus screamed because the end of the chains took out one of its eyes.

But, Viktor was at the end of his strength. He could no longer restrain them.

Clank!

The chain broke, and two of the Cerberus escaped. Then, they let out an enraged roar, causing the whole room to shake and rain debris down the recruits. Afterwards, the two creatures’ eyes focused on Viktor, who was still restraining one of them.

Both immediately jumped towards Viktor, but he has predicted the move and jumped back, causing the two of them to collide.

All the recruits were ready, and they all stood next to Viktor with their weapons drawn.

“Yes, ma’am!”

The recruits all split up. Two groups moved to the left and right of the room, while one group stayed in place.

On the left, Viez led her group to attack, while on the right, Jessie and Liza led their group together. The last group was led by Viktor and Anna.

Soon after, there was a clash.

On the left side of the room, Viez was the distraction, while the recruits make up the bulk of their offense. They surrounded the Cerberus and attacked it right on its weak spots.

Meanwhile, the reverse was happening on the right side. The recruits served as the distraction, while Liza and Jessie make up the bulk of their offense. Together with their group, Jessie used Chain Scroll to keep their group’s Cerberus from moving around too much, while Liza focused on attacking the creature directly.

Viktor and his group decided to take a different approach.

First, he tied up the Cerberus’ front leg and neck, causing the guard dog of hell to only be able to struggle on the floor in vain. Then, all the recruits attacked at the same time.

Many sharp things skewered the Cerberus, and it roared loudly as the attacks escalated. Its blood stained the floor and turned it red, while the smell of iron permeated throughout the room.

Not long after, the Cerberus was weakened.

“Anna, now!”

Viktor’s shout was enough for her to understand. Light shimmered on her blade, and then, she jumped up and swung her weapon in a downward strike.

Splat-!

The Cerberus’ three heads fell, and everything was silent for a moment.

Then, a spray of blood rained in all directions as the monster’s body parts fell, all split cleanly from its main body.

Viktor took a glance at Liza and Jessie’s group, and saw that they have nearly finished off their own enemy as well.

With the aid of Chain Scroll, the beast’s feet was chained and pulled to four directions, causing the dog to be unable to move at all. All its eyes were no more; there were only bloodied sockets with long since dried blood. All it could do was waiting for its inevitable demise.

Liza swung down her claws in an attempt to split its neck. However, her claws were too short, while the recruits that were holding the chains have all started to feel exhausted.

When Jessie saw Liza having some difficulties, she shouted, “use a sword!”

Liza stopped attacking, and her white eyes scanned the crowds in search of a weapon. Not long after, one of the recruits called out.

“Catch!”

A massive greatsword flew in the air, and Liza caught the weapon with one hand. With one touch, the weapon were encased in ice, and she held the weapon tight, then swung it.

Splat!

The three heads of the Cerberus rolled on the floor.

Meanwhile, in Viez’ group, the same thing was happening.

The Cerberus has started to feel exhausted, and its body was full of small scratches and stab wounds from arrows. As if she possessed endless stamina, Viez kept jumping up left and right, distracting the creature from the recruits. When the creature tried to attack the recruits instead, Viez aimed on its head.

Just as she did, one of the recruits managed to stab the monster with a spear until the spear was lodged deep in its knee. In an instant, blood sprayed out from the wound, and the creature lost its balance.

Seeing a chance, the other recruits all rained down attacks on the creature with their weapons.

Splat! Splat! Splat!

The noise of weapons stabbing flesh could be heard over and over. The Cerberus tried to wiggle away, however, it has lost too much blood and stamina.

Not long after, one of the recruits managed to stab its chest.

Roarrr!

Unfortunately, the recruit wasn’t strong enough, and he only could touch its heart without piercing it. The Cerberus then threw its whole body weight onto the recruit, causing the other recruits to get thrown away.

Viez knew what to do. She reacted fast and punched at the spear lodged on its chest.

Splat!

“ROOaar….”

The creature roared for the last time.

All the recruits checked their surroundings, ensuring there were no more creatures still let alive.

When they saw they have defeated three Cerberus, they all roared in delight.

“Yeaaaaah!”
