Chapter 81 - Power Plant
n
n
nThe distance between the shore and the power plant was another 20 miles away.
nIt was seen from the shore that there was in fact a river that connected directly to the power plant.
nHowever, due to the narrowness of this particular river, it was hard for the icebreaker ship to pass through it. As a result, the only alternative left was to throw the anchor in order to dock the ship, and since they were no longer able to use the ship, they were forced to go on foot to reach the destination.
nThe fact that all of the sailors had been ordered to remain on the boat caught him by surprise once more. This left Viktor, along with Jessie, Wade, Biggs, and Roman, to be the only 5 people who were going to continue the mission.
n“Jessie… are you really sure about this? Shouldn’t we bring more guys?” Viktor inquired, his voice tinged with skepticism, as he believed that the idea of just going with the five of them was not a sensible one.
n“No no… we don’t come for a battle. We just come to sneak in and sneak out.. and hopefully, we won’t need to fight at all” The young lady responded in order to convince him.
nIt was actually better to have fewer but more reliable people if sneaking was the plan.
nFortunately, Viktor has the Djinn sensor. If the plan went south and became too much of a risk, he would leave right away.
nMeanwhile, while he was at it, he checked the strength of his party.
nBugs – Battle Power: 37 – Earth Realm – high stage
nWade – Battle Power: 35 – Earth Realm – high stage
nRoman Fedortsov – Battle Power: 47 – Sky Realm – initial stage
nJessie Wineberrie – Battle Power: 40 – Earth Realm – high stage-.
nViktor Romanov – Battle Power: 42 – Earth Realm – middle stage
nStrength – 30 Agility – 60 Endurance – 35 Spirit Force – 68
nWhen it came to strength, the two Wade and Bugs were comparable to Olga or Andrei, while Roman, as a sky realm fighter, had a higher stat than Viktor. What piqued his curiosity was Jessie’s stat, which turned out to be higher than the others.
nNevertheless, while this team was definitely a total upgrade to his previous party, the party’s reliability was still yet to be decided.
n“We must arrive at the plant before the night comes. Or else It will be troublesome to fight both creatures,” Jessie said to get around her teammates.
n“Both creatures? What do you mean?”
nApparently, her statement just now had left Viktor in confusion once again.
nThe girl just remained smiling as she added, “You’ll see it later,” and winked at him.
nThey finally disembark from the ship, and leave with a radio to communicate with one another in the event that they needed a change of plans.
nTwo hours before sundown, 20 miles to run.
nMost normal humans would take an average of 3 hours to get there, but for them, the earth realm may quickly reach it in one hour without trouble.
nHowever, it wasn’t really a run in a park as there were many threats and risks in their immediate vicinity.
nThey arrived on a shore near the town of Kandalaksha. The town itself in fact was swarming with the undead as if no one had ever passed through it the last two years.
nJessie was leading the way and she chose a path along the river just across the town. Viktor could see the hordes of undead swarming on the other side of the river, only a hundred meters away from the opposite bank.
nIt only took them about an hour to run 15 miles from their starting point, and they were ultimately in town next to a lake when they reached their destination.
nAt this moment, the sun had already set and the palace was half dark with only an hour left until it was totally dark. This signaled that the risk of abyss creatures to arrive was about to be multiplied.
n“Ok let’s get moving boys. The power plant was just a few miles over this town.”
nIn a similar manner to what the group had done before, they also decided to walk and choose the most direct and safest route possible by taking the long way around the town.
nHowever, as soon as Viktor was in the vicinity of the town, with his enhanced sense, he was able to detect glowing lights all over the town.
n“Wait… there are people living there?” Viktor asked.
nAs opposed to this, the girl and the others did not seem to be surprised in the least as if they already understood what was going on.
nJessie quickly approached him and said,
n“That’s not people, I will explain it later, but the point is that we don’t want to get too close to that town, so let’s go..”
nThese words instantly elevated Viktor’s level of suspicion and immediately rose to the maximum level. Fortunately, Viktor did not need to approach the town in order to find out what was going on there. After all, the town was in the vicinity of the Djinn sensor range.
n“Djinn, tell me, are there any humans in that town?” he whispered secretly while following the group from behind.
n
n“But Djinn, I swear to you that I can see movement in there, as well as lights. Someone must stay in there,” Viktor continued as he tried to confirm whether or not what he had just witnessed was true.
nThe Djinn, on the other hand, did not say anything, which only increased Viktor’s concern and caused him to quickly slow his pace.
n“What is it, Djinn?”
n
nHowever, Viktor had still received some sort of notification to his mind, but it was insufficiently detailed. This piqued his interest and made him even more perplexed. He appeared to be completely oblivious, and no one seemed to be able to enlighten him.
n??? – level 15
n??? – Stage 1
nBattle Power – 18
n??? – level 25
n??? – Stage 2
nBattle Power – 30
nThe incomplete information, along with the fact that the town was swarmed with them, only served to increase Viktor’s anxiousness.
nOnce again he whispered to the Djinn, but this time he did it emotionally as if he could not deal with this situation any longer.
n“What… the Fu*k..! What is it that I am getting into here, Djinn?”
n
nViktor wished to inquire further, but Jessie had already called him.
n“Hey.. is there something wrong? Don’t get left behind, will you?”
nThe two quickly sped up following The other three
nAfter reaching the outer perimeter of the power plant, the beautiful young lady was elated and exclaimed,
n“See, it’s just as I told you! They’re no longer swarming all over this place.”
nHowever, the usually silent Roman started to speak,
n“We are a bit late, it’s already too dark. We should take cover somewhere else and enter the power plant in the morning… that’s a safer thing to do.”
nHowever, the girl did not appear to be excited with the idea.
n“I would prefer we hold the parts first and hide. If we got spotted tonight, they would swarm the area and it would take days or weeks until the palace is cleared again,” Jessie explained.
nThere was a little back and forth going on but eventually, the young lady used her charm to talk her way into making Roman agree to her argument.
nViktor, on the other hand, was still anxious and preparing himself for any unforeseen trouble that might arise. He tried his best to not let his guard down and to increase his level of vigilance as much as he possibly could.
nWhen they got close to the powerplant, he finally spotted a similar glow to the one he had seen in town, and then finally he saw it for himself.
nIt was a human undead, but unlike the type, he had fought before, its entire body had been burned to crisps and there were green glowing goggles shining inside the flesh, which gave out the glowing light.
nWhen Viktor saw the condition of this undead, he immediately realized what they were and why only people from the earth realm were allowed to participate in this mission.
nJessie saw Viktor’s surprised expression, she could not help but chuckle to herself, and since Viktor seemed to had get enlightenment on his confusion since earlier, she then clarified,
n“Yes.. we call them Ghouls, they are undead who got exposed to radiation for a long period of time they are faster and stronger than normal undead”
nAfter clarifying, Jessie once again back to her energetic personality and wink when she said.
n“Time to show me your ability”
